Firefox Cache Settings
On several occasions I have had to help people with the cache settings in Firefox. Recently with a blogger who's blog I find myself reading a lot. She's trying Firefox again and according to her she had stopped using Firefox before for the same reason.
The problem is that Firefox by default check's for the newest version of a web page when the page is out of date. On Blogger blogs this causes the effect that many times comments will not show up in the current session. And unlike with Internet Explorer you can't change this setting from within a configuration window with the options to select and click the OK button (unless there is an extension for this for Firefox?).
In Firefox it isn't that easy to set—unless you know where to look.
Here's how to make Firefox check for the newest version of a page on every visit. Open Firefox and in the URL bar type about:config. In the Filter: field enter
browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
Double click on browser.cache.check_doc_frequency and change the number 3 to a 1. Number 3 is the default value. Valid values are:
0 = Once per session
1 = Every time I view the page
2 = Never
3 = When the page is out of date (default)
Exit and restart Firefox for the changes to take effect.
Saludos.
